mission and history
Our Mission and Our Journey
Our mission at Cultivating Connections Montana is all about building community through food. Through our programming, we strive to empower youth, grow food, share knowledge, foster well-being, provide mentorship, and bring people together through education, participation, and celebration. In a world where there is so much to disagree about, food is something we can all agree on, and it’s a place to start a new conversation.
Tracing Our Roots
The Cultivating Connections (CCMT) Farm-Classroom is located at Homestead Organics Farm, which was started in 1999 by our Founder Laura Garber. The farm began as an experiment in Organic food growing and, over time, started to develop a strong educational focus and set about hosting workshops, classes, and youth at the farm. Cultivating Connections Montana was born to house these budding educational programs, and has since shifted away from a transactional ‘farm’ model and into a relational one – one that prioritizes creating a space for everyone to learn, work, grow, and connect.
